About Our Courses

Our Training Dept. covers 15, Daimler Trucks of North America, Instructor-Led courses.  The first four Vehicle courses cover the fundamentals, operation, and troubleshooting of electrical, HVAC and basic truck systems. There are four vehicle specific courses that cover Business Class M2, Western Star, Cascadia, and New Cascadia.  We also have courses on the DT12 transmission, DD Heavy Duty and DD Medium Duty engines.  In addition to these courses, we have the ability to create custom courses depending on customer needs.  Feel free to contact us for more information.

Vehicle Courses

  • CVG01 Heavy Duty Truck Systems

    In this 5-day course, technicians learn to navigate and use all features in DTNA Connect, along with standard chassis systems.

    •  Navigation and use of all features in DTNA Connect, with a focus on service literature
    •  Operation, troubleshooting and repair of wheel ends, air brake systems, chassis & cab air suspensions, power steering systems and clutches
  • CVE12 Electrical Troubleshooting

    In this 5-day course, technicians will learn the fundamentals and troubleshooting of DC electrical circuits, along with an in-depth look into wiring schematics and drawings.

    • DC electrical fundamentals – Volts, Ohms and Amps
    • How to properly use their digital multimeter and troubleshoot electrical circuits
    • Wiring schematics and drawings, the information contained in them and how to find them
    • Operation, testing and diagnostics of the Powernet System (Batteries, Starters, Alternators and cables)
  • CVE05 Electronic Systems

    In this 4-day course, technicians will learn how electronic control systems monitor a variety of sensors, determine appropriate action and then control outputs.

    • Operation and diagnostics of the seven common sensor types
    • Inputs, Controls and Outputs
    • Evolution, operation and diagnostics of communication networks
    • Operation and diagnostics of ICUs (Instrumentation Control Units)
    • Introduction to Diagnostic Link 8
  • CVH02 HVAC Diagnostics

    In this 5-day course, technicians will learn fundamental laws, operation and diagnostics of heating and air conditioning systems.

    • Fundamental laws of heat energy and transfer, related to how we remove or provide heat to the cab
    • Refrigerant system operation, performance testing and gauge driven diagnostics
    • Service procedures – refrigerant recovery, evacuation and charging
    • HVAC electronics and controls
    • Operation and diagnostics of Parksmart and BPHS (Battery Powered HVAC System)
    • *Does not certify technicians on the EPA Section 609 regulations
  • CVL02 M2 Business Class

    In this 4-day expert level course, technicians will get and in-depth understanding of the multiplexed electrical system on the Business Class M2, along with operation and diagnostics for all of the electronically controlled systems.

    • In depth understanding of the M2’s multiplexed electrical system
    • Operation and diagnostics for all of the electronically-controlled systems
    • Systems include lighting, instrumentation, HVAC, body builder interface and air management
    • Use of Diagnostic Link 8 to monitor vehicle systems operation, change/add parameters and programing vehicle ECUs
  • CVL01 Western Star

    In this 4-day expert level course, technicians will get and in-depth understanding of the Western Star electrical system, along with operation and diagnostics for all electronically controlled systems.

    • In depth understanding of the Western Star’s electrical system
    • Operation and diagnostics for all electronically controlled systems
    • Systems include lighting, instrumentation, HVAC and multiplexed electrical system
    • Use of Diagnostic Link 8 to monitor vehicle systems
    • Wiring schematics and drawings – how they differ from Freightliner and how to find them
  • CVL05 Cascadia (all models)

    In this 3-day expert level course, technicians will get and in-depth understanding of the multiplexed electrical system on the New Cascadia, along with operation and diagnostics for all of the electronically controlled systems.

    • In depth understanding of the New Cascadia’s multiplexed electrical system
    • Operation and diagnostics for all of the electronically-controlled systems
    • Systems include lighting, instrumentation, HVAC and multiplexed electrical system
    • Use of Diagnostic Link 8 to monitor vehicle systems operation, change/add parameters and programing vehicle ECUs
  • CVD13 Vibration Analysis

    This 2-day course will provide Technicians an in depth understanding and skills necessary for diagnosing and troubleshooting of Noise, Vibration and Harshness concerns.

    •  Provides skill necessary to diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle related vibration concerns
    •  Introduces the basics of vibration theory, the use of vibration software and tools needed to properly diagnose and correct the root cause
  • CVG12 DT12™ Transmission

    This 2-day course teaches technicians the principles to properly diagnose and repair DT12 A or B Box Automated Manual Transmissions.

    • Principles to properly diagnose and repair DT12 A or B Box Automated Manual Transmissions
    • Log file analyzing for diagnostics and symptom based troubleshooting
    • Exercises completing repairs using DTNA required tools, while following service documentation
    • Diagnostic Link 8 demonstrations on service and learning routines needed after repairs
    • Basic parameter management

Engine Courses

  • CEP43 DDHD Major Repair

    This 5-day course covers major repair with the emphasis on engine systems (air, coolant, lubrication and fuel.)  

    • Major repair with the emphasis on engine systems (air, coolant, lubrication and fuel)
    • Completely disassemble and reassemble a DD15 motor
    • Learn how to use Power Service Literature and DTNA Connect for information gathering and repair procedures
    • Covers differences between each engine release, from EPA 07 up to GHG17
    • Basic failure analysis of key components
  • CEP42 DDHD Diagnostic

    This 3-day course, technicians will be introduced to all aspects of DD engine diagnostics. 

    • Introduction to all aspects of DD engine diagnostics, including fault code and symptom based diagnostics
    • Information gathering from Power Service literature and DTNA Connect for troubleshooting procedures, bulletins and solutions
    • Diagnostic Link 8 features, including log file analysis, service routines, component tests and engine controller programming
    • Overview of DDEC Reports
  • CEP44 Heavy Duty Fuel System Diagnostics

    This 5-day course will provide an in depth look at how all the components of the fuel system work together on a properly running engine.

    •  In-depth look at how all the components of the fuel system work together on a properly running engine
    • Demonstrate service routines and troubleshooting material to diagnose fault code or symptom based issues with the fuel system
    • Evolution of the DD engine fuel system from EPA07 up to GHG17
  • CEP45 Heavy Duty Air and ATS

    This 4-day course focuses on the evolution, operation and diagnostics of air and aftertreatment system components found on Detroit Diesel engines.

    • Evolution, operation and diagnostics the DD engine’s air and aftertreatment systems
    • Closer look into Components such as the Turbo, EGR, DOC & DPF filters and SCR system
    • In-depth look into the regeneration process and the electronics involved to make this possible
    • Log file analysis and hands-on exercises are used to get a better understanding of fault code and symptom based troubleshooting
  • CEP70 DD Medium Duty Diagnostics/Major Repair

    This 5-day course covers major repair with emphasis on the systems of the engine (air, coolant, lube, fuel).

    • Technicians will spend the majority of the course around the engine
    • Groups of two will alternate between complete disassembly and reassembly of a DD5 and diagnostic exercises on a DD8 using Diagnostic Link 8
    • Technicians will get familiar with all special tools needed to complete repairs
    • Skills learned from previous courses will be used to find and use proper repair and troubleshooting procedures
